I made a pair of these kid's art desks as gifts for my cousins' kids based on a design I saw online. 

The top lifts up and are secured at various angles with a brace attached to the underside. 

Each desk has a small drawer for storage. The white T-shaped dowels set in the desktop slot keep papers and pens from sliding off the desk while it's raised. 

Both desks can be raised up as the kids grow to provide years of usefulness.
